What Is It?

The Trident Manual AirPrime™ is a pump priming system designed to create a vacuum within a centrifugal fire pump and suction hose. By removing trapped air from the pump and intake plumbing, the system allows water to be drafted from static water sources and delivered to attack lines, master streams, and other firefighting operations.

Whether responding in rural areas without hydrants, filling portable tanks, or drafting from natural water sources, AirPrime systems help firefighters establish dependable water supply when hydrants are unavailable.

How Is It Used?

During drafting operations, the operator engages the AirPrime system to remove air from the pump casing and suction hose. Once water enters the pump and draft is established, the priming system is disengaged and normal pumping operations begin.

AirPrime systems are commonly used during:

  • Rural water supply operations
  • Dry hydrant operations
  • Pond and lake drafting
  • Portable tank shuttle operations
  • Industrial firefighting water supply
  • Wildland support operations
