What is it?

The Lakeland Interceptor® Plus – Level A, Front Entry Encapsulated Suit family consists of fully encapsulated chemical protective suits designed for environments where the highest level of respiratory and skin protection is required. These suits are intended for use in unknown or highly hazardous chemical vapor conditions where gas‑tight integrity is critical.

How is it used?

These suits are worn over a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and are entered from the front of the garment. Once donned, the suit fully encapsulates the wearer, creating a sealed barrier between the user and the external hazardous environment. They are used during emergency response, hazardous material incidents, and operations involving toxic industrial chemicals.

Who uses it?

  • Hazardous Materials (HazMat) response teams
  • Fire departments
  • Emergency response personnel
  • Industrial safety teams
  • Chemical handling and containment crews

Maintenance Information

  • Inspect suit before and after each use for damage, contamination, or seam integrity issues
  • Clean and decontaminate according to established HazMat procedures
  • Store in the provided storage bag in a clean, dry environment
  • Do not use if damaged or compromised

What is it used with?

  • Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)
  • Chemical-resistant gloves and boots (integrated with suit)
  • Air supply and pressure testing equipment compatible with Level A suits

Material

  • Suit Material: Interceptor® Plus multi-layer chemical barrier fabric
  • Seams: Heat-sealed
  • Face Shield (select models): Wide-view, multi-layer visor construction

Benefits of Front Entry Design

  • Simplified Donning: Front entry allows the wearer to enter the suit more easily while wearing a self‑contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
  • Operational Convenience: The front zipper location can make suit donning and doffing more manageable during response operations.
  • Encapsulated Protection: Maintains full encapsulation while allowing access from the front of the garment.
  • Responder Familiarity: Front-entry configurations are commonly selected for HazMat response applications where SCBA is worn inside the suit.

Benefits of Wide‑View Face Shield

  • Expanded Field of Vision: Wide‑view face shield provides increased peripheral visibility compared to standard face shields.
  • Improved Situational Awareness: Enhanced visibility supports better awareness of surroundings, tools, and team members.
  • Reduced Visual Obstruction: Larger viewing area can help minimize blind spots during operations.
  • Enhanced Task Performance: Clear, wide viewing area supports precision tasks and movement in hazardous environments.
