The Elkhart Brass Hydro-Foam® self-educting nozzle is designed to flow foam solution without the need for special foam mixing equipment. This innovative design provides the flexibility and reliability required for effective foam application, making it one of the most efficient tools for AFFF firefighting available today.

Features

  • Built-in Metering Device: Accurately proportions foam at the selected rate.
  • Versatile Foam Compatibility: Suitable for Class A and Class B foams, including AFFF and fluoroprotein foam concentrates.
  • Adjustable Pattern: Easily change the pattern under flowing conditions from straight stream to 90° fog.

Benefits

  • Efficient Foam Application: The built-in educator can be attached to any existing fixed monitor, portable monitor, or deck gun.
  • Dual Use: Can be used with plain water for cooling exposures or fire attack.
  • Quick Setup: Insert the pick-up hose into your foam supply for an instant AFFF foam system.
  • Easy Proportioning Adjustment: Change the proportioning rate easily in the shop or fire station.

Applications

  • Industrial Firefighting: Ideal for large-scale fire suppression in industrial settings.
  • Marine Firefighting: Suitable for shipboard fire suppression systems.
  • Municipal Fire Departments: Enhances the capabilities of local fire services.

How It's Used

  • Self-Educting Foam Delivery:
    • The nozzle has a built-in foam educator, which means it can draw foam concentrate directly from a supply (like a drum or tote) through a pick-up hose.
    • No external foam proportioning equipment is needed—just insert the hose into the foam supply and start flowing water.
  • Adjustable Foam Proportioning:
    • You can set the foam concentration rate (e.g., 1%, 3%, 6%) depending on the type of foam and fire scenario.
    • This is done using the built-in metering device.
  • Pattern Control:
    • While water or foam is flowing, the nozzle pattern can be adjusted from a straight stream to a wide fog (up to 90°), allowing for versatility in application.
  • Dual Use:
    • It can be used with plain water for cooling or direct fire attack, or with foam solution for suppressing flammable liquid fires.

What It's Used With

  • Foam Concentrates:
    • Compatible with Class A (ordinary combustibles) and Class B (flammable liquids) foams.
    • Works with AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) and fluoroprotein foams.
  • Firefighting Equipment:
  • Can be mounted on:
      • Fixed monitors (stationary nozzles on fire trucks or facilities)
      • Portable monitors (movable ground-based units)
    • Deck guns (large nozzles mounted on fire apparatus)
  • Pick-Up Hose:
    • Comes with a 9-foot clear vinyl hose to draw foam concentrate from a container.
