What Is It?

The Akron Brass Hydrant Wye (Model 1582) is a rugged, high-performance valve designed to split a single water source into two outlets. It’s commonly used at fire scenes to maximize water distribution from hydrants or supply lines. The valve features self-locking Tork-Lok handles for secure and easy flow control, and is available in multiple inlet sizes to suit various operational needs.

Installation Instructions

  • Identify the Inlet Size
  • Choose the correct model based on your hydrant or supply line:
    • 1582/2525: 2.5" Female
    • 1582/3025: 3" Female
    • 1582/4025: 4" Female
    • 1582/4525: 4.5" Female
    • 1582/5025: 5" Female
    • 1582/6025: 6" Female
  • Connect to Hydrant or Supply Line
    • Attach the female inlet of the wye to the hydrant or water source using the appropriate rocker lug fitting.
    • Ensure a tight seal to prevent leaks.
  • Attach Hose Lines to Outlets
    • Connect (2) 2.5" male outlets to your fire hoses.
    • Use standard hose couplings to secure the connection.
  • Secure and Position
    • Place the wye on stable ground or secure it to a hydrant base.
    • Ensure the valve handles are accessible and not obstructed.
  • Operate the Tork-Lok Handles
    • Use the quarter-turn Tork-Lok handles to open or close each outlet independently.
    • These handles lock in place to prevent accidental movement during operation.
