FireWipes® are 8" x 12" textured, industrial-strength disposable wipes infused with cleansing compounds for use on all external dermal areas. These wipes are saturated with a unique formula specifically designed to minimize additional carcinogenic exposure through dermal absorption for the user.

How is it Used?

FireWipes® are used for personal gross decontamination (decon) immediately after fire-related incidents or between rounds during extended firefighting efforts. To use:

1. Expand the wipe to its full 8”x12” size.
2. Clean permeable skin areas such as the neck, throat, jaw, and face.
3. Clean areas around the eyes, ears, and nose.
4. Continue to other exposed areas such as hands, wrists, lower extremities, and groin.
5. Discard properly after use. Do not flush in toilets or porta-potties.

Who Uses FireWipes®?

FireWipes® are primarily used by firefighters to reduce the risk of carcinogenic exposure. They are also suitable for other professionals who face similar hazards, such as industrial workers and emergency responders.

Firefighters face an unforeseen danger by not realizing the hazards associated with potential carcinogens permeating their turnouts and reaching their skin. Firefighting is an inherently dangerous business, and there is never a way to truly eliminate all the risks involved. In any situation, firefighters will evaluate risk to determine the appropriate action that needs to be taken. When assessing the potential carcinogens infiltrating through firefighting PPE, minimizing contact times of these fireground contaminants on the skin can reduce the risk of exposure.

According to the FCSN (Firefighter Cancer Support Network) White Paper, one of the first steps firefighters can take to protect themselves from cancer is on-scene personal gross decon immediately after a fire-related incident or between rounds during extended firefighting efforts.
