Fabric Information

6 oz. Nomex IIIA plain weave is a blend of 93% Nomex, 5% Kevlar, and 2% Anti-Stat. This is a lightweight inherently FR fabric that has stood the test of time in the fire service industry. This fabric meets or exceeds NFPA 1977 standards for Wildland Firefighting.

Additional Information

Dual‑Certified Advantage

One of the most important differentiators of the PGI Double Duty™ BDU Pant is its dual certification. It is certified to NFPA 1975 for station wear and NFPA 1977 for wildland firefighting, allowing departments to issue one pant for two operational roles. This reduces uniform redundancy, simplifies PPE inventory, and lowers long‑term replacement costs.

Station‑to‑Fireline Versatility

Unlike single‑purpose wildland pants, these are designed to transition seamlessly from station duties to fireline deployment. The professional BDU style and green Nomex fabric allow wear in public‑facing environments without sacrificing flame resistance, making them suitable for:

  • Daily station duties
  • Training evolutions
  • Brush and wildland response
  • Utility operations requiring FR protection

Fabric Performance Benefits

Nomex® IIIA is an inherently flame‑resistant fabric, meaning its protective properties do not wash out or wear off over time. This provides consistent thermal and flame protection throughout the life of the garment and eliminates the need for retreatment or special coatings.

Additional fabric advantages include:

  • Lightweight construction for heat management
  • Breathability suitable for extended wear
  • Resistance to melting, dripping, or combustion
  • Long service life in high‑abrasion environments

Mobility‑Focused Design

The relaxed fit, elasticized rear waistband, reinforced crotch panel, and articulated pocket layout are engineered to support:

  • Climbing, kneeling, crouching, and walking long distances
  • Tool carry without restricting movement
  • Reduced binding during hose deployment or wildland line work
  • This design emphasis makes the pant especially well‑suited for crews operating in uneven terrain or during extended shifts.

Reinforced Construction for Longevity

These pants are built for repeated duty cycles and harsh environments. Construction techniques such as bar‑tacking at stress points, five‑thread safety stitching, and double‑needle lock stitching help extend garment life and reduce seam failures during field use.

Compliance Beyond Firefighting

In addition to fire standards, compliance with NFPA 70E, ASTM F1506, OSHA 29 CFR 1910.269, and CAL‑OSHA electrical and industrial requirements makes this pant appropriate for mixed‑hazard environments where both flame resistance and occupational safety compliance are required.

  • Inherently flame‑resistant fabric that will not degrade with laundering
  • Designed for comfort during long shifts and high‑mobility tasks
  • Suitable for fire, utility, and industrial FR applications
