Tools Needed for Installation
Vertical Surface Mounting:
- Drill – for creating pilot holes if needed
- Screwdriver or socket wrench – depending on the type of fasteners used
- Mounting hardware – screws or bolts (not included; recommended size based on surface material)
- Measuring tape – to align and position the bracket accurately
- Level – to ensure proper alignment on vertical surfaces
Trailer Hitch Mounting:
- Hitch pin or locking hitch pin – to secure the bracket into a Class 4 (2") receiver
- Wrench or socket set – if additional securing bolts are used for the hose roller attachment
- Optional: lubricant or anti-seize compound – for easier insertion and removal from the hitch receiver
These tools will help ensure a secure and stable installation whether you're mounting the hose roller on a flat surface or using it in the field with the trailer hitch bracket
General Safety Tips
- Wear PPE: Always wear gloves and safety glasses when drilling or handling metal components.
- Use Proper Tools: Ensure all tools are in good working condition and appropriate for the job (e.g., drill, wrench, level).
- Secure the Work Area: Make sure the vehicle is parked on a flat, stable surface with the parking brake engaged before installing the hitch mount.
- Avoid Pinch Points: Be cautious when inserting or removing the hitch mount to avoid pinched fingers.
- Check for Obstructions: Before drilling into any surface, verify that there are no wires, fuel lines, or other obstructions behind the mounting area.
- Use Correct Fasteners: Always use the recommended size and type of fasteners for mounting the MC40 securely.
- Test Stability: After installation, gently test the roller and mount to ensure they are secure before use.
- Do Not Overload: Only use the hose roller with hose sizes and weights it is rated for (1" to 1-1/2" fire hose).
- Inspect Before Use: Check all components for signs of wear, rust, or damage before each use.
