This kit comes with two color-coded RigTech Packs™ that each carries independent hauling/lowering systems designed to work together in mirrored or nested configurations. Rescuers can use these components to build mechanical advantage systems on both 200ft 11mm CMC G11™ Lifelines simultaneously, including a 3:1, 3:1 with the change of direction, or complex 5:1. These ready-to-go systems minimize gear sorting and allocation. Rescue teams can shoulder their RigTech Packs knowing they have everything they need to quickly and efficiently deploy twin tension rope systems (TTRS).

The smooth, efficient action of the CLUTCH allows rescuers to haul more efficiently and lower with more control. Additional built-in features of the CLUTCH make it ideal for this kit, including the ratcheting rotating sheave, Anti-Panic brake, force limiting protection, and integrated becket. When two CLUTCH devices are brought together in the Double CLUTCH Technique (aka “Double CLUTCH-ing”), rescuers can maintain nearly equal tension on both lines so that the load, often involving a rescuer, litter, and a victim, is shared across two rope systems, reducing the risk of a single line failure. If a catastrophic event such as single line failure does occur, the Double CLUTCH Technique is preferable to a traditional slack belay because it prevents 100% load transfer on the slack belay line and thereby limits shock and extension in the system.

The Double CLUTCH TTRS Kit includes CMC DNA ANSI Carabiners to align two CLUTCH devices on an anchor plate. This setup allows a single operator to manage both CLUTCH handles simultaneously for simultaneous twin tension control. While the Double CLUTCH TTRS Kit can be deployed in various ways, rescuers who combine kit components in the Double CLUTCH Technique will run a hauling/lowering system that meets current best practices and, minimizes failure risk, offers the potential to reduce the personnel requirements.

What is it?

The Double CLUTCH TTRS Kit is a comprehensive rope system designed for technical rescue operations. It includes components that allow rescuers to build mirrored or nested rope systems with mechanical advantages of 3:1, 5:1, and 9:1

How is it used?

Rescuers use the Double CLUTCH TTRS Kit to manage twin tension rope systems during hauling and lowering operations. The kit's components can be configured to create mechanical advantage systems, ensuring efficient and controlled movement of loads. The CLUTCH devices feature a ratcheting rotating sheave, Anti-Panic brake, and force limiting protection, enhancing safety and control

Who uses it?

This kit is used by:

  • Firefighters: For rescue operations in hazardous environments.
  • Search and Rescue Teams: During missions in remote or challenging locations.
  • Industrial Safety Teams: In confined spaces or high-risk industrial settings.
  • Military Personnel: For evacuation and rescue in combat or training scenarios.

Installation Requirements

Tools Needed: Standard rigging tools such as carabiners, anchors, and ropes.

  • Installation Steps:
    • Anchor Setup: Secure the anchor points using appropriate hardware.
    • Rigging: Attach the CLUTCH devices to the anchor points and configure the rope systems.
    • Mechanical Advantage: Set up the desired mechanical advantage (3:1, 5:1, or 9:1) using the included pulleys and ropes.
    • Testing: Test the system to ensure all components are securely attached and functioning correctly.

Installation Tips

  • Check Compatibility: Ensure all components are compatible with your existing equipment.
  • Use Thread Sealant: Apply thread sealant to prevent slippage and ensure secure connections.
  • Regular Testing: Periodically test the setup to ensure it remains secure and functional.

Maintenance Information

  • Regular Inspections: Check for signs of wear, corrosion, or damage.
  • Cleaning: Clean the components regularly to remove dirt and debris.
  • Lubrication: Lubricate moving parts to ensure smooth operation.
  • Replacement: Replace any worn-out components promptly to maintain functionality.
