Hot Shield® Filters: The Ultimate Protection for Firefighters
If you are looking for a reliable and versatile filter mask that can protect you from smoke, dust, and vapors, look no further than Hot Shield® Filters. These disposable low-level N-95 style filters are specially designed to fit into the Hot Shield Wildland Firefighter Face Mask or to be used independently during mop-up operations. They are made of high-quality materials that offer excellent filtration and breathability.
Why Choose Hot Shield® Filters?
- Affordable and Effective: Hot Shield® Filters are inexpensive and adequate for the intermittent use the mask is designed for. They can help you reduce the exposure to harmful particles and gases in the fire environment.
- Compatible and Flexible: Hot Shield® Filters are compatible with most brands of disposable filters with exhalation valves. You can easily install them into the Hot Shield Wildland Firefighter Face Mask or use them with the supplied rubber straps and aluminum pinch bar. You are not locked into buying an expensive filter from only one company for the life of the mask.
- Durable and Safe: Hot Shield® Filters are made of steam-activated carbon sandwiched by cotton media filtration cloth with an exhalation valve. They can withstand high temperatures and pressures without compromising their performance. They also have a one-way valve that allows you to exhale easily and prevents moisture buildup inside the mask.
How to Use Hot Shield® Filters?
- Size: Hot Shield® Filters come in one size only – Medium. They suit most adult faces and can be adjusted with rubber straps and an aluminum pinch bar.
- Installation: To install the filter into the Hot Shield Wildland Firefighter Face Mask mask, tear off the rubber straps and aluminum pinch bar and insert the filter into the integral filter pocket of the mask. Make sure the valve is centered in the middle of the filter. To use the filter by itself, leave the rubber straps and aluminum pinch bar on and secure the filter over your nose and mouth.
- Replacement: Hot Shield® Filters are disposable and should be replaced when they become difficult to breathe through or damaged. Do not reuse or wash the filters. Dispose of them properly according to local regulations.
What are the Limitations of Hot Shield® Filters?
- Fire Gases: Hot Shield® Filters do not block fire gases like carbon monoxide, so do not assume you can advance further into the fire. Use your head, training, and common sense. Always monitor the fire conditions and your vital signs.
- Heat Hazard: Hot Shield® Filters are not designed to protect you from direct flame or radiant heat. They are intended for intermittent use in the fire environment. Do not expose them to excessive heat or sparks.
