The Cobra™ Carbon Shield™ Firefighting Hood offers unparalleled protection and comfort for firefighters. Designed with a double layer of Carbon Shield™ fabric, this hood provides extensive coverage of the neck, upper chest, and top of the shoulder blades. The notched side ensures the bib lies flat, improving the interface with bunker coats. Flat-stitched seams eliminate bunching and prevent discomfort, while the half-inch wide elastic face opening stretches to a full 17 inches, ensuring a snug fit around most SCBA masks. This hood is UL Classified to the NFPA 1971 Standard on Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting – Current Edition.

Fabric
The Carbon Shield™ fabric is the ultimate high-tech thermal protection and comfort material. It won’t burn in the air and has excellent moisture-wicking properties, ensuring rapid evaporation and keeping you dry.
- Flame Resistant: Won’t burn in air, remains dimensionally stable even after 90 seconds of extreme heat.
- Superior Protection: Resists welding sparks and molten metal, sheds most molten metals, and won’t melt, ignite, or burn.
- Low Heat Conductivity: Delays heat transmission, ensuring time to escape fire.
- Moisture Wicking: It provides excellent moisture regain (approx. 8%) and wicks moisture away from the skin for rapid evaporation.
- Infrared Non-Reflective: Ideal for police/swat teams and military applications.
Construction
- Two Layers of Knit Fabric: Top seamed from face opening to back with six-thread flat seam for comfort.
- Elastic Face Opening: Circular shape, serged with x-heavy duty 1/2” wide elastic, stretches 25% more than conventional hoods.
- Bib Binding: The bottom edge has self-material bias binding and is contoured at the shoulders for maximum coverage.
