Installation Process

Tools Needed for Installation

  • Wrench: For tightening and securing the connections.
  • Cleaning Brush: To ensure the couplings are free from debris before installation.
  • Pressure Gauge: To test the connection and ensure it is leak-free.

Preparation

  • Ensure both the male and female couplings are clean and free from debris.
  • Verify that the threads on both couplings are in good condition and not damaged.

Connecting the Couplings

  • Align the Couplings: Position the male coupling in line with the female coupling. The male coupling should have the external lugs facing outward.
  • Insert the Male Coupling: Push the male coupling into the female coupling until the external lugs engage with the slots in the female coupling.

Securing the Connection

  • Twist to Lock: Rotate the male coupling clockwise until it locks securely into place. The external lugs should fit snugly into the slots, ensuring a tight connection.
  • Check the Seal: Ensure that the tapered section of the female coupling's seal sits correctly in the matching taper at the end of the male coupling. This seal is 'energized' by water pressure, creating a watertight connection.

Testing the Connection

  • Apply Pressure: Gradually apply water pressure to the system to check for leaks. The seal should be fully energized by the pressure, ensuring a secure and leak-free connection.
  • Inspect for Leaks: Monitor the connection for any signs of leakage. If leaks are detected, recheck the alignment and ensure the couplings are properly locked.

Maintenance

  • Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the couplings for wear and tear. Replace any damaged components to maintain a secure connection.
  • Cleaning: Keep the couplings clean and free from debris to ensure optimal performance.

Maintenance Information

  • Regular Inspection: Check the couplings periodically for signs of wear and tear. Replace any damaged parts to maintain a secure connection.
