CHEMGUARD® NFF 3x3 UL201 is a 3%x3% Alcohol Resistant Non-Fluorinated Class B Foam Concentrate designed for excellent fire and vapor suppression for Class B, polar solvent, and hydrocarbon fuel fires. This synthetic foam concentrate is suitable for both forceful and gentle firefighting applications at a 3% solution on hydrocarbon fuels and gentle firefighting applications at a 3% solution on polar solvent fuels.

  • Extended Drain Times: The foam blanket blocks oxygen to the fuel and suppresses fuel vapor.
  • Polymeric Membrane Formation: On polar solvent fires, a polymeric membrane forms to protect the foam from destruction, suppressing vapors and sealing the fuel surface.
  • Cooling Effect: The water content of the foam solution provides additional fire suppression through cooling.

Features

  • Designed in accordance with NFPA Standard 11 for Low-, Medium-, and High-Expansion Foam
  • UL162 listed for use on hydrocarbon and polar solvent fuel fires
  • Passes UL162 type III test protocol on hydrocarbons at the same design application rate as traditional AR-AFFF products
  • Effective control and suppression on hydrocarbon fuels
  • Superior drain times for better burnback resistance

Compliance

CHEMGUARD NFF 3x3 UL201 is a non-fluorinated firefighting foam concentrate produced without PFAS chemistry, complying with Directives (EU) 2017/1000 on PFOA and 2019/1021 (EU POPs directive).

Application

CHEMGUARD NFF 3x3 UL201 is intended for use on Class B fires, including hydrocarbon fuels like crude oils, gasoline, diesel fuels, and aviation fuels, as well as polar solvent fuels like methyl and ethyl alcohol, acetone, and methyl ethyl ketone. It also has excellent wetting properties for Class A fires and can be used with dry chemical agents for enhanced fire suppression.

Suitable Applications

  • Industrial chemical and petroleum processing facilities
  • Truck/rail loading and unloading facilities
  • Flammable liquid containment areas
  • Mobile equipment

Proportioning

The recommended operational temperature range is 35 °F to 120 °F (2 °C to 49 °C). CHEMGUARD NFF 3x3 UL201 can be proportioned using:

  • Balanced and in-line balanced pressure pump proportioners
  • Balanced pressure bladder tanks and ratio flow controllers
  • Around-the-pump type proportioners
  • Fixed or portable in-line venturi-type proportioners
  • Handline nozzles with fixed eductor/pick-up tubes

Storage and Handling

Store CHEMGUARD NFF 3x3 UL201 in the original package or recommended foam system equipment. Maintain within the operational temperature range and avoid freezing. Proper storage and handling can maximize the product’s effective life, which has been demonstrated to exceed 10 years under optimal conditions.

Inspection

Inspect CHEMGUARD NFF 3x3 UL201 periodically in accordance with NFPA 11, EN 13565-2, or other relevant standards. Send a representative sample to Johnson Controls Foam Analytical Services or a qualified laboratory annually or as needed for quality analysis.
